Thematics + 3 years of Geomate

After a little over three years with the blog, here I summarize some statistics that have helped me to plan topics and priorities for 2011.

Trying to stay on subject glimpsed in my first post, total categories have become 31. As a general line I raised in that 2007 post 4 categories: Cartography, AutoCAD, Microstation and Geospatial.

To plot their distribution I am using pie chart (Excel 2007) with insert sub-graphic which allows see percentages behavior below 1%.

In this way, it’s seen that topics are separated into at least four major segments:

A first group occupies 50% of the posts that are contained in 7 subjects which have segments as 9%. These reflect blog’s main trend (CAD / GeoWeb) and three programs of my preference. It is interesting that here are three of the four issues I raised in first post, they are also issues that move a part of rewards: contacts after international travels.

  • Geospatial – GIS
  • Google Earth / Maps
  • Microstation / Bentley
  • AutoCAD / AutoDesk
  • Internet and Blogs
  • eGeomates
  • Innovations

Then a second group that extends up to 80% in 7 other topics that distributes values between 5% and 7%; here are two other programs and an emerging trend focused on GIS, applications and requested revisions. It’s shown in bold one of the four issues planned in the first post, it’s funny but these segment themes are those which move other rewards such as specialized consulting and training.

  • ArcGIS / ESRI
  • Manifold GIS
  • Cadastre
  • Topography
  • Cartography
  • Various
  • CAD/GIS Training

As a third group it is the tail that reaches 94% on six themes that I have barely used as filler or are from recent use as gvSIG’s case. These values are distributed between 1% and 3%.

  • Leisure / Inspiration
  • GvSIG
  • Engineering
  • Virtual Earth
  • Travel
  • Land Ordinance

And finally there is a fourth group that includes 11 topics, none of them with more than 1 per cent and among all sums that emergent queue of 6 per cent. While these are potential issues, I have only used them on special occasions. Looming potential of computers, like Apple/Mac with which I hope to insist, and perhaps will grow political issue because coups seems to continue.

  • GPS / Equipment
  • IntelliCAD
  • Getting money with Blogs
  • qGIS
  • Polítics and Democracy
  • ArchiCAD
  • CadCorp
  • Downloads
  • Index
  • Apple / Mac
  • uDig

In another post I’ll talk about posting statistics, visits and revenue.
