The systematization of good practices

A year ago we had a tired diploma of systematization which lasted more than 120 hours, it has been developed a lighter version more oriented to good practices.

This is one of the simplest forms of systematization, which may well include experiences as processes but in which are chosen relevant practices to those who have conducted them and are favored for their results. Documents obtained as the result are easy to build and operate, reflecting the most important of the action in this case, good practices in municipal management and commonwealths.

We have based on a methodological guide for the systematization of good practice, which was just being produced by the Program of decentralization and Municipal strengthening “Democratic Municipalities” of Guatemala, of which I spoke a few days ago.

It is understand as a good local practice, a management experience which has been relevant for municipal institution, the local territory and its inhabitants for their positive impact on the provision of services, promoting the development or improvement of the well-being of the people. Additionally the good practice must have verifiable results and continuity of positive effects over time.

What features should have a good practice

Among the features being considered are:

  • Clear leadership from the authorities or decision-making actors
  • Motivated Work teams
  • Openness to other groups
  • Enabling Environment for Change

From this it has been brought out an array of nearly 13 areas to assess at time to prioritize the different proposals to systematize. We considered some methodological criteria for significance weighting, such as the capacity of entrepreneurship, mobilization or additional resources dependency, community participation and local coordination capacity.

Results we have obtained

The course and the audience are technicians and staff from different municipalities and district councils, in total we have obtained at least 22 good practices that will be systematized in different areas such as local economic development, citizen participation, joint management etc. In my case, in cadastre area and land ordinance we have brought 4 people with whom we have chosen to systematize at least 7 good practices, some conventional and other innovations for our environment:

  1. Implementation of rural cadastre by affidavit
  2. Implementation of tech urban cadastre
  3. Total station use in the cadastre
  4. Digital integration of cadastral tab
  5. Digital integration of tax control
  6. Commonwealth cadastral surveying
  7. Integration of inter-regional monitoring

Product format

It has been used a simple format, in a fascicle form that contains at least these 8 aspects:

  1. Title
  2. Summary
  3. Development of experience
  4. Strengths
  5. Weaknesses
  6. Relevant results s
  7. Responsible
  8. Credits

There is more than a month to get the products, and as incentive there is the possibility of much estimated technological awards.
