Downloading AutoCAD 2010

clip_image001[4]A few days ago I spoke of Autodesk’s educational versions, in this case will see trial versions, which can be downloaded for testing purposes. These have all features of commercial versions, but can only be used for 30 days from the date of installation.

According to the Autodesk website, only applies to customers living in the U.S., Canada and Spain. But in practice it can be done from any other country, at least here I’ll tell you how I did it:

1.  What can be download

In Spain’s case it can be downloaded here.

clip_image0072. What is new in AutoCAD 2010

The best place to learn what’s new / differences with the 2009 version is AutoCAD2010.es; apart from being in Spanish, there are interesting resources such as Mike’s advices.

Also in the download pages are additional links to the FAQ and a brochure so that you can know the improvements in version.

And it is worth registering in the podcast, which is for this August 27 taught by Lynn Allen.

3.  How to download

I used an address of a USA Mail box, in this case, to pass the filter, using Mail Boxes which has the following address:

My name

My locker

2227 NW 79TH Ave

DORAL, FL. 33122

The download option has been immediately enabled for me. In some cases it doesn’t let your access, because it associates with your Internet service provider and detects if you are in another country, but I guess I got it because my provider is a North American franchise it has been no problem.

clip_image008In a few days they will also sent the original CD with its case, which will arrive to the locker in Florida (so it was last year with AutoCAD 2009). Then I only have to pay the cost of shipping which could go about $ 10, this subject can be negotiated with the local services provider or a friend who has one of these boxes.

4. How long takes the download

That depends on the connection; it is preferable to use a program that facilitates control download, because the files are big and if it stops downloading, you need to register once again:

To give you an idea, AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 weighs 4 GB the first part and the second part, 330 MB.

It can easily take a whole day with a regular connection.

Once downloaded, you just have to run the file with extension .exe

Again, these are updates for 30 days, to buy there are distributors in each country, here is a list of approximate prices. It is also possible to use educational versions that are much cheaper.
