5 agreements on political crisis

I have tried to keep this blog out of topics that lead to the subjectivity and cause the soul crisp because of individuals opinions (except football); views but live some years, work others, almost birth there and develop friendships with many native did that at least I devote a post to comment about the item.

I am referring to Honduras’ case, where an apparent democratic peace State for many years is about to end unless something supernatural happens. In a 450 Pixels image hardly seen in the map, only 2% of the last day’s visitors have come to this blog from that country, even so it’s ranked as the ninth country.

Honduras lived in the shadow of coups most of the last century, say experts on the matter (for live and not for knowing) that in this country 3 dead men is enough reason to be a coup. The international media are broadcasting what have better understood, they must be here to understand it (if it can be that).

Without trying to be ideologue, aware that politics is not compatible with the dwg format, here are five agreements:

1. The main culprit is corruption

In all our Latin American countries this has been a virus that has damaged confidence in our politicians; we also ask ourselves whether if there are corrupt people who could make significant changes for the good of the majority.

No one can deny, that in the depth of his being there is a list of politicians who have 30 years sucking the State’s teat and will remain there for 30 more years inheriting its name to their children. This happens around the world, but is also corruption to close the opportunity to non-political people who have a lot of ideas to contribute…and even you do not believe, they could have more good ideas.

2. There is a social debt to be paid

Talking to friends who have very good economic conditions, they recognize that there is a huge social debt to pay. This situation eventually explodes, and people are willing to take the chance.

I am in favor of social causes in a country where the great majority of people have been eating s3it, it’s a pity that left leadership models are lousy examples to follow. But social convulsions are necessary for changes, it happened what it should be, the social debt must be paid by someone… someday; We only hope that it does not cost the 72,000 dead in El Salvador.

In the end it is necessary to happen in order to bring changes.

3. The Facebook generation must arise

But we are all aware that future generations must arise, and not the heirs of the parent’s policy. It is terrible to see after two days, there is no contingency, only good intentions but without clear plans.

Given this, new leaders must emerge, they must take advantage of the situation to create contingency, make plans without desperation and make its way without losing the majority’s credibility. The opportunity for assuming power will be taken by them on its time, but once there, do not forget they are the Facebook generation (to give them a name.)

4. No one has the absolute truth

I do not want to fall into the same error, there will never be an absolute truth in this because if we go to the underground, everyone’s guilty; each for act, others for not doing so, some by being handled, others by thinking they are so enlightened that all others are wrong. But in the end, there are principles commonly accepted by all, these should be followed as long as they have valid, aware that eventually will be obsolete because democratic models are dynamic.

5. The two sides do not have a solution

One extreme advocate of social causes, the other defends the sovereignty, one says being in the name of the people, the other claims to be the people, one says that he is going, the other wants to arrive. But both sides do not seem to have a solution or have proved to be one.

Conservatives flight valves and the left’s extreme radicals are not a solution. Countries need more long-term planning with discipline of the one who prefer to give a win-win, rather than firefighting actions to stay well with what “my mind” says I must please.

Last year I spent a week in Bolivia, just in time of Santa Cruz rebellion, so I could see that the truths of the international media did not seem much to what people told in the same place: a week with a American of middle class and what he thinks of Obama and his country is another story, I was about to become orphaned when the Farabundo Marti war forced me to flee; I spent several years working for someone who spent his spare time writing a vision of a country, without having plans to be president.

So when I was consulted by my Spanish friends in the Facebook chat what was going on, I had serious doubts to tell them what I thought or refer them to the media that have extreme truths. Because if something I understand is that in this life, nobody has the absolute truth … least I.

Only ideals.

And then?

I could move on one side, and hide behind the 985 words of this post, acknowledging that while some suffer the crisis seeking a strategy to overcome the other side, I could go running 45 minutes with the my son’s iPod, take an adrenaline, spend my time paying the endless fee of my credit card, listen to the views of the media and return peacefully to my home where my children were waiting for me to play with the Wii.

What happens is that I do not feel satisfied.

If you are going to act, do it by your principles, I’m a technology poet, not an ideologue. But you don’t need tips of what you should do.
